About Elena 2

Elena began her career in health and healing in 1996 at the National Institutes of Health in the field of neuroendocrinology, where she studied the links between the body, brain and behavior.  She soon became interested in alternative and traditional healing practices, and she participated in scientific research using acupuncture, homeopathy, herbal medicine and mind-body therapies for pain management at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.  Her clinical experiences include family medicine, gynecology, mental health, acupuncture, herbs, homeopathy and manual therapy settings.

While exploring health and wellness in both Greece and India, she became exposed to ancient methods of healing in practice for thousands of years.  She was especially impressed with the effectiveness of manual therapies like massage, and chose to return to the healthcare field not as a scientist but a massage therapist.

Her work in Myofascial Release and massage therapy is an exceptional blend of knowledge, experience and insight from many sources.  She uses Myofascial Release as powerfully effective approach to healing that revitalizes the body, mind and spirit and promotes the integration of all these parts of ourselves into a unified and beautiful whole. Elena now dedicates her work to this path, helping others release their pain and achieve a higher state of health and wholeness.

In addition to Myofascial Release, Elena actively practices Vipassana meditation and the martial art Aikido.  She is an avid dancer and also practiced Ashtanga yoga and Tai Chi for many years.
